Elimination series are on the menu at CDA-FDC Professional Championship Season 2 and the first to exit the playoffs are two of the teams regarded as favorites at the title.

Runners up in the previous season, Elephant were one of the teams to look out for, however, after starting the group stage with mixed results, the playoffs match-ups went from bad to worse for them. Two major upsets sealed the deal for Elephant who left the competition in the 5th-6th place after losing the upper bracket semifinals to Team Aster and the lower bracket first round to EHOME.

While Elephant’s early exit was rather unexpected, Vici Gaming’s poor playoff run was truly a surprise. They crushed the opposition in the group stage to place first in Group B with a clean 4-0 series score, but once the playoffs kicked off, they were pitted against the CDA – FDC defending Champions, PSG.LGD and were dropped to the lower bracket after not having an answer to Zhao “XinQ” Zixing’s flavor heroes Techies and Winter Wyvern.

VG’s battle for survival in the elimination rounds brought another upset as Invictus Gaming, a team who has been trailing behind in the Chinese scene, took them down in a reverse sweep.

CDA-FDC DOTA2 Professional Championship Season 2 playoffs continue today with the upper bracket finals Team Aster versus PSG.LGD followed by the lower bracket series counting for a top three finish, iG versus EHOME. The Lower bracket finals and the grand finals are scheduled for tomorrow, November 25 starting at 07:00 CET.
