Analyst Kevin “Purge” Godec commented on Valve's announcement of the upcoming changes in Dota 2. In a tweet, he said that he liked updates, but the game still lacked the system to support newcomers.
“Update is a gentle, nice read. Enjoy the communication, and future changes(soonTM) seem nice. No mention of new player experience though? Looking forward to that!”
On October 16, Valve released an update that expanded Dota Plus and changed the guild system. In addition, the developers of Dota 2 made the MMR reset optional and promised to release a new hero in November and introduce a report system like "Patrol" from CS:GO.
Users and figures in the eSports industry have repeatedly cited the lack of training and support for newcomers as one of Dota’s major problems. It is believed that for this reason Dota 2 is more difficult to expand to other audience.
