One last series was left for the day at DreamLeague Season 13 and it would be another that involved elimination as Evil Geniuses took on Invictus Gaming.
After eliminating Beastcoast from the Major earlier today, Invictus Gaming were back on stage to defend themselves against elimination once again but this time against the North American organisation that is Evil Geniuses. Having last met at MDL Chengdu, EG would be looking to get some revenge as it was iG who knocked them out of the previous Major and at the end of the day, only one of these teams would remain.
In the opening game of the series, EG were dominant, playing perfectly around the map and pushing iG away from obtaining any farm. While there were very few kills, EG lost only a single tier one tower as Abed ‘Abed’ Yusop dropped the Outworld Devourer hammer to secure a RAMPAGE and a 1-0 series lead.
iG went into the next game with a very strange draft as they picked up the Clinkz for Jin ‘flyfly’ Zhiyi – and they played it almost perfectly. The Chinese squad destroyed the EG lineup throughout the game, except for one moment where EG managed to team-wipe their opponent. But this wasn’t near enough to turn the game and with that we would have a game three.
With one final game in the series it seemed as though iG had completely fallen apart, even after their magnificent victory just prior. While iG had small glimmers of hope when their Anti-Mage was finally able to fight, it was all too little too late as the Chinese team were picked apart by a rampant EG.
After another fantastic Major effort from iG comes to an end as they fall short once more, this time managing a fith/sixth place finish. Evil Geniuses will get their revenge for MDL Chengdu and march forward in the lower bracket of DreamLeague Season 13. With that only five teams now remaining in the tournament as we get closer to crowing the first Major champion of 2020.
