Ohaiyo: I’m pretty confident with the new roster
As the SEA reshuffles, EE and Pieliedie ended up starting a new season in Fnatic. And that’s where our spotlight turns to, the senior Fnatic player, Ohaiyo. He talked about the situation in SEA and QO’s new Korean team.
Q: First off, thanks for the interview. Recently Fnatic had a roster change, what do you think about the new team?
Ohy: I’m pretty confident with the new roster. EE and PLD are veterans, with a young guy xcalibur, make the team pretty strong.
Q: You guys started training? Any problem with the communication? I mean EE always comes up with irregular builds and strategies, who calls the shots now?
Ohy: We haven’t started training, people are still arriving. My English is probably the worst among five of us, but still understandable. I’m now sure with the strategies since we are still bonding. For now EE and Pieliedie are in command.
Q: After TI7, a lot of SEA teams are reshuffling, including Mushi’s team. Which one seems competitive in SEA scene or which one could dominate the scene, in your own opinion?
Ohy: Mushi’s team and TNC probably, they are pretty strong SEA team for now I guess. I couldn’t really say which one could dominate. Every team has that chance, including us. Just wait and see the results.
Q: You performance in Titan and LV are pretty impressive, however Fnatic has been a middle tier team for the last two years. Have you ever analyzed whether it was a personal problem or a team problem?
Ohy: I haven’t done it comprehensively. But I was pretty focused back then, and my passion has been fading nowadays.
Q: Fnatic used to rank the first place last year, but the placing quickly dropped later after the tournaments. Is it because of the SEA scene’s overall level of skill? Do EE and Pieliedie joined to make up for it?
Ohy: Not really the problem of the scene, but our own team play dragged us back. For instance, Raven in the team TNC. He performed better in his own country or Filipino-speaking places.
Q: Recently, there haven’t been enough tournaments for you guys to scrim and improve. Mushi and MidOne used to come to China to participate the CDEC League, have you ever considered doing so to do some recovery training?
Ohy: Yeah, we have planned to participate the CDEC League due to the shortage of tournaments. All of my team want to play with Chinese players, to improve and learn more strategies.
Q: Valve has changed the TI invitation rules. Player points and team points decide whether a team is invited or not. How do you like this change.?
Ohy: It is better for the players. I actually still kind of confused about it. It seems harder for unexpected shuffles if someone won a lot with his team, unless the price tag is too tempting.
Q: As a veteran yourself, how do you plan your professional career? Or is there a specific goal you want to achieve?
Ohy: The thing I want to do the most is to team up with another four Malaysian players and win the TI, but it is very hard to achieve since new Malaysian players are really hard to find and hard to train.
Q: Speaking of SEA players, two 10k players of the year are Malaysian, Abed and Midone, along with impressive Ahfu in LFY. How do you like these three players, and is it possible to be a TI winner if you have them to be your teammates?
Ohy: Well, shouldn’t be too hard to win with them. I like them a lot, especially Ahfu. He’s hardworking and very humble, very good player. Three of them are all top tier players.
Q: Coming down to your own personal problems, getting married any time soon?
Ohy: Haha, I thought about it, but probably DOTA 2 first. I mean you are asking your girlfriend to sacrifice too much to be a pro players since you basically have no time with her, unless you are taking a break.
Q: PUBG is phenomenon recently. Everyone is killing for chicken dinner now. Is it a popular game in SEA as well? Have you been having chicken for dinner?
Ohy: Haha, yeah I have. I used to play with my teammate QO and Febby. It’s a fun game and I really like FPS games after all.
Q: Speaking of your former teammates QO and Febby. Can you talk about their plans?
Ohy: I heard they reassembled Korean team, but I’m not really sure about the players.
Q: Well, any shoutouts?
Ohy: Shoutouts to my fans for your support for all these years. TI7 was pretty bad, but nothing’s going to change my love for this game. I will never give up before I achieved my goal and we will carry on. Thanks!
