Gambit Esports has been regarded as one of the best contending team in the CIS region for a while now behind Virtus Pro. They’ve made several appearances Valve’s DPC tournaments and also several commendable rankings in both majors and minors. 3 of those was bo5 Grand Final appearances which they’ve battled out against EHOME, Team Secret, & ViCi Gaming.

But after everything that they’ve achieved, of little avail, Gambit Esports fell short in the rankings of the DPC Circuit to be able to make the cut as one of the direct invitees of The International 9.
Coming off in the regional qualifiers, they we’re the favorites. Their fans & supporters didn’t seem to worry enough for them to claim the CIS slot since in this qualifier, we all know that they’ve faced and conquered harder and stronger teams. Unfortunately, the results did not favored them. First day ended well for them with 3 wins and 1 loss. 2nd day is where they’ve come across conflicts. It was a match against Winstrike when Afoninje rage quits after he was ganked by 4 heroes in the top lane as Morphling. It was a very impactful moment that definitively sealed their fate. Gambit’s path to TI9 has ended after they’ve loss all their succeeding matches.
The incident happened almost a month ago and now today, Gambit Esports announce that they’ve went into an agreement to mutually decide that Afoninje and headcoach boo!k part ways with the organization.
We’re most likely to find out Gambit’s new roster in the upcoming DPC season.
