Chapter 1: It’s Been 2 Decades?!
Often times, the eSports scene is remembered by fans and players worldwide by the recognition of teams who made historic achievements. Some of the few common examples are Navi, Invictus Gaming and we can include Ninjas in Pyjamas too in that list.
Yet, after 2 decades since it is founded, today NiP is exposed by a CS:GO talent, Jake Lucky, for their shady business. He states that NiP owes various players, mostly from CS:GO (not sure about DOTA2’s lineup, which is captained by PPD). One of those victims is Fifflaren, who was underpaid so much and did not receive any money from sales of merchandise and sponsors.
But that’s not all as he also claims that the old NiP players which we can’t tell who, feared leaving the organization, so they are stuck with NiP. And to end it, he also claims that newer NiP players are owed a lot of money from prize pools and official in-game sticker sales too.

Chapter 2: Fear.
It is definitely unfortunate for something like this to happen in our eSports scene, however, incidents like these are so common in other non-eSports organizations as often times, the directors of the company gets most of the profit and leaves nothing for the hardworking employees.
There are rumours to how NiP was able to keep their dirty secret for so long. Like, there are more than 50 players who played under NiP’s name in various eSports, so how did they manage to stay clean?
Well, rumour has it that as usual, large organizations have contracts and there is something called “Non-disclosure agreement”. This essentially means that disclosing or exposing NiP’s internal matters to the public, will result in legal punishment and fine. These players are worried of the consequences that could potentially destroy their whole career, so we really can’t blame the players for keeping it so long.
Chapter 3: Permission to Love?
Some of the old players mentioned are also forced to ask the higher ups management, whether if they can have a girlfriend. They even need to do this with written permission. However, as stated, it is just a request, so the organization still can review whether if the player can have a girlfriend.
When your working life affects your social life is when things really seemed f*cked up in many ways, especially when you are forced to do so and unable to help yourself.
Chapter 4: NiP in TI9.
Now, the real question is will we see NiP getting banned from the pro scene soon? Many in the community are expecting an official statement about the matter and what actions will they do to NiP. That said, we just might see another Forward Gaming incident, where the organization need to drop their names from TI9 but not the players.
That said, we hope that PPD and the boys are doing fine and heading to TI9 but not with NiP’s name because that prize pool winnings probably won’t reach NiP players’ pockets. Stay tuned.
