North Americas second open regional qualifier was decided in the early hours of the morning and with that the closed qualifier for the region is set as Black Sheep and swaaag will fight for a spot at TI9.
As open qualifiers came to a close, NA Dota would round things out as two final teams would join into the mix to fight for the single spot for the region at The International 2019. Many of the teams in the second open qualifier for NA were vastly unknown with some rather big names scattered amongst them – such as the squad known as Black Sheep. Black Sheep features none other than Mason ‘mason’ Venne who only recently made his return to the frontlines of Dota 2 when he joined Infamous as they took on DreamLeague Season 11. While he had no luck there, he now gets a shot at returning to TI with this squad:
Mason ‘mason’ Venne
Danny ‘iAnnihilate’ Cote
Noah ‘Boris’ Minhas
Daniel ‘Bloody Nine’ Foster
While they will be fighting against some of the biggest NA Dota squads for a spot at TI9, this is a rather well-known stack of players and should be able to compete with the best.
The final team to reach the NA closed qualifier would be Swaaag, an almost entirely unknown stack except for Scott ‘B’ Jenses – known also as cHad. cHad has been a part of the Dota 2 scene of NA for some time, probably most well remembered for playing alongside Arif ‘MSS’ Anwar and Ionnas ‘Fogged’ Loucas at North American Rejects as well as with mason and Jimmy ‘DeMoN’ Ho at High Council of Wizards&Priests. The full stack heading into the closed qualifier is:
Scott ‘B’ Jensen
With that, the eight teams that will fight for the single spot for North America remaining at The International 2019 is set and it is:
The NA closed qualifier will kick off on July 11th and in just a few days we will have our final team from the region remaining who will have obtained their ticket to TI9.
