Europe’s first regional open qualifier for The International 2019 came to an end last night with three teams reaching the closed qualifier including Troels Lyngholt ‘syndereN’ Nielsen’s Stack, Anti-MagE-.
EU’s Dota 2 scene had seen a massive rise in recent times and the closed qualifiers were set to be an epic battle for one last spot for the region at The International 2019. The open qualifiers would also see a host of well-known players and teams fighting for a spot in the closed bracket. The first of three teams to get through would be Epic Name – a squad featuring ex-Alliance player Jonas ‘jonassomfan’ Lindholm. The team pushed through a massive bracket of Open Qualifier teams which secured them their chance to getting to TI9 through closed qualifiers. The full squad is:

Next from the region to make it into the closed qualifier would be another well-known stack with ex-Natus Vincere players and other popular names in Dota 2. The stack known as Anti-MagE- featured Victor ‘GeneRaL’ Nigrini and fought through the entire bracket to reach the closed qualifier. The full squad is:

Anas ‘MagE-‘ Hirzallah
Victor ‘GeneRaL’ Nigrini
Dino ‘dnz’ Šavuk
Troels Lyngholt ‘syndereN’ Nielsen
The final team from the first regional open qualifier for Europe would be the all Czech squad, Hippomaniacs. While they had originally lost to Anti-MagE-, they had a second chance to move through and took advantage of this. The full Hippomaniacs squad is:

That ends the first open qualifier for Europe, teams such as Ad Finem, Wind and Rain and Aachen City Esports will all have to now look at the second open qualifier for their chance at reaching the closed qualifier.
