The first day of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor was an epic show of Group A’s talent with every team performing to the best of their ability right off the bat – but for one, they would already secure their upper bracket playoff spot.
The day opened with Team Anvorgesa taking on EHOME, a matchup that was almost an exact replay of the Dota PIT Minor game which saw the Chinese squad eliminate the South American’s from that event. It was quite an upset when Anvorgesa went one game up after a 40-minute brawl on the battlefield – but it seemed as though EHOME just needed to find their footing, as they dominated the next two games of the series to take a 2-1 win.
Next up was Alliance taking on Winstrike and it was a fantastic series, once again going all the way to its maximum length. All three games were very tight but the last was definitely the most enticing with an-over-an-hour-long game to close the series. In the end, Alliance stayed cool and played it smart as they snuck into their opponent’s base and destroyed their Ancient through backdoor protection. This places Alliance in a Winner’s match up against EHOME to close out the day.
With a guaranteed spot in the top 4 of the Minor on the line, both teams went into the series looking strong – but it was quite clear who was hungrier for the win. Alliance took game one without much issue, before EHOME were able to tie up the series and take us to a third full length series of the day. The final game was all Alliance from start to finish as they dominated their opponents.
With their victory Alliance now solidify their spot in the top 4 of the Minor and gives them a glimmer of hope in getting to the EPICENTER Major. Tomorrow we will kick off with day to of the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor and we will get to see Group B in action.
