Chapter 1: Vote for Your Favorite!
Just yesterday, Valve surprises the community with a new feature never seen before by Valve. It is a voting feature only available for Battle Pass owners to vote for their favorite sets made by workshop artists. It comes with the ability to see its model on the client and if that isn’t enough, you can even demo it in-game. However, it’s not purchasable yet.
Chapter 2: Punks Not Satisfied.
While the community is rather happy that we get to see which set actually won by votes, instead of previous years where it’s a hit-or-miss. The original workshop artists were not impressed being turned into some tournament-like semifinals game, where everyone votes for their favorites.
Many artists were not happy that Valve did not inform them beforehand to do this voting phase in-game. Instead, their sets were automatically added into the game.
Chapter 3: Jebaited.
So of course, the first thought that the artists get is that their sets got accepted into the game and they won! But little did they know that it wasn’t even close as they play another round of voting by the community, this time by the battle pass owners only.
The worst part about this is that they get a unique version of their own set that “got into” the game but actually it was nothing more than a sample to be used in-game. One of the artists even commented that it turned into a battle royale among their artist friends as everyone tries to get their set into the game.
Chapter 4: Zero Communication.
The artist, TheBase16, ranted that they have requested for more communication from Valve, yet this decision they did today, just shows that Valve is just going backwards when it comes to providing support and communication. The artist explains how frustratedly painful it is to feel like you won the vote but turns out you have to play another set of voting.
Another artist, TheHorseMangler, instead criticizes Valve for deciding to have this feature. Questioning that Valve is actually expecting each user to go through all 83 sets that made it to decide which is good. Basically, it's just like Tinder but for sets.
These artists also made fun of how they get Self-made versions of their set for now and if these are permanent, will they serve to remind you of your failure?
Chapter 5: Good for Us!
While the artists are pretty unhappy about this, it’s pretty much a wish came true for us instead. We get to decide which set looks best and buy what we want. It just can’t get anymore transparent than this.
Anyways, the voting will be held till 3rd June, next Monday. So if you have a battle pass, be sure to check out the sets that got shortlisted! Tell us what is your favorite from the bunch? I think that rock Broodmother set looks pretty neat! Stay tuned.
