WePlay saves us from starvation on Dota 2 action during the winter holidays with a tournament announced to run December 27 – January 5.
Apart from the whopping $100,000 prize pool, which is considerable for an online-only competition, WePlay Winter Madness will feature 14 teams, a group stage to take place this year and a playoff stage scheduled for the first week of January 2019. There are no qualifiers for this, all the 14 teams being selected by the organizers. Ten will start their journey this year, in the tournament group stage, while four other will get an invite straight to the playoffs.
Ninjas in Pyjamas, Alliance and Forward Gaming confirmed
So far only three teams were confirmed to participate and although the event is online, which means it will be a bit of a ping hustle if WePlay chooses to go with squads from different regions. Forward Gaming, for example, who are playing via US servers are one of the three teams revealed upon the tournament announcement. Ninjas in Pyjamas and Alliance are the other two listed in today’s announcement.
