Chapter 1: Witch Hunt.
Right after yesterday, Valve released a…you guys heard it too many times, I’m done introducing this same sentence again. Anyways, you might think that things would begin to settle down after Valve’s announcement but nooooooo…
The Dota community is much more than that, as we see people hunting down every pro player’s past tweets and posts ever written. That’s the case of rOtK today.
Chapter 2: Two Years Ago…
It seems like someone successfully dig rOtK’s “recent” post, by recent I mean two goddamn years ago. Really? What the hell. Anyways, as someone pointed out, rOtK’s post apparently was offensive against the Filipino dicing team as he refer them as Philippine monkeys.
The post began with him saying that while Olympics have all kinds of star contestants, in esports, we too have them too. He then recommends his fans to watch the TI6 games. Actually, if I’m not mistaken, this was a joke by some of his fans saying that he should be banned like Kuku because the Chinese community thinks that VG can perform better without him as coach.
Chapter 3: rOtK Apology.
Just after a few hours, rOtK has issued an apology on Weibo, apologizing that he as a public figure shouldn’t have used improper language in 2016. He also wants to apologize to his Filipino fans who felt offended. He also mentioned that he referred the diving team as “Philippines monkeys” is because the caster during the diving competition called it that way, so he followed humorously).
He also said that this doesn’t mean that he can insult others in Chinese, and he admits his mistake since he done it. He also said, “I won’t be a pussy about this”. Now that we got the other side of the story aka context, we can lower our pitchforks, right?
Chapter 4: Iceiceice.
Since we are going to list out every pro’s racist rants, I might as well bring back some history here. First off, it’s iceiceice, who accidentally said something offensive about negros.
In his Twitch stream, someone asked him if he would name his son Daryl, in which he replied “I don’t even like the name Daryl. Daryl is like a n*****’s name. It’s not an... okay, it’s a black person’s name. I’m not a big fan of like, Daryl. My parents named me Daryl after watching a show.”
While he actually did realised what he has done the instant he said it and tried to rephrase it, he still got banned from Twitch. Unfortunately for him (and the rest of the world’s viewers) since the Twitch stream was really his way of thanking the community for supporting him.
He had been offered contracts worth 7-figures to stream on Chinese platforms, so Twitch streams don’t make as much income. Anyways, he apologized for his mistake within 24-hours knowing full well, he was wrong.
Chapter 5: Mind_Control and Russians.
Of course, we cant forget about Mind_Control’s flame on Russians in his stream. Where he wrote “Why didn’t Hitler kill Russians? Would be so nice for the world”.
He soon realised his mistake after it became a hot topic on Reddit, and issued an apology and donation to charity. It seems like the community are hunting down every pro’s tweet, be it last month or last 5 years, if it was posted, they will find it and they will raise the pitchforks!
Chapter 6: The Other Pros.
At this rate, we just can’t wait to see what new discoveries the community will find and get 4k likes on Reddit. Pro players and influencers, beware, the community is out to hunt down every single drunk post you wrote! Oh let’s not forget Puppey’s…nevermind, he got hacked. Let’s not talk about it. Stay tuned!
