Group A at The Kuala Lumpur Major got off to a fantastic start today and set the stage for much more amazing Dota 2 action still to come. Opening the day would be Team Secret taking on J.Storm and paiN Gaming going up against Ninjas in Pyjamas.
Team Secret opened up with a dominant performance, especially from Michal ‘Nisha’ Jankowski who put in absolutely brilliant performances on a Morphling and Terrorblade in their 2-0 victory over J.Storm – even securing a rampage with the latter.
J.Storm were not the easiest opponent after a quick loss in the first game, but even with a Sven for David ‘Moo’ Hull and an Arc Warden for Jonathan ‘Bryle’ De Guia, they were not able to fight up against Secret. Game two was closed out by Yazied ‘YapzOr’ Jaradat’s Rubick who stole Black Hole to secure the 2-0.
At the same time, paiN would find themselves falling to a Drow strategy coming out from NiP, who were fortunate enough to have Team Liquid’s Ivan Borislavov ‘MinD_ContRoL’ Ivanov standing in for Neta ‘33’ Shapira after VISA issues prevented the Israeli from accessing Malaysia. paiN was almost able to take the second game, leaving the Dire Ancient on a sliver of health before NiP cleaned them up and won the series 2-0.
The Winner’s Series for the top spot in Group A came down to Secret and NiP after both were able to secure 2-0 victories in their opening series. There was barely a contest though when it came down to it as Secret just looked brilliant through out their games. Once again, it was Nisha at the head of their charge, destroying his enemies with a Morphling and a Terrorblade.
With a powerful show of dominance on the first day of The Kuala Lumpur Major, Team Secret breeze past their opponents and claim the top spot in Group A and are the first team to secure a spot in the Upper Bracket of the Main Event.
The day and group is far from over with 2 series still to come, first up being J.Storm taking on paiN Gaming, as the teams fight to claim the single remaining upper bracket spot from Group A at The Kuala Lumpur Major.
