Coming home from TI8 with a top six finish, which is their best result to date at The International, Team Secret still had to undergo a roster change for the new season.
It was announced just yesterday that the young Polish carry, former player of Team Kinguin, Michał “Nisha” Jankowski joined the squad along with an old friend of Secret, Ludwig “zai” Wåhlberg. With the new roster revealed, ESL One announced today that the team will embark for the ESL One Hamburg 2018 edition.
The event is not part of the Dota Pro Circuit, therefore the organizers are allowed to handle direct invites to the teams.
Team Secret are the third in the line of direct invites at the $300,000 tournament which will take place October 23 -28 at the Barclaycard Arena. The European squad was present at all the three ESL One tournaments in the previous season, but apart from a second place secured at ESL One Hamburg 2017, they didn’t make it to a grand final again.
Virtus.pro, on the other hand, are the only Dota 2 team to have won three ESL One Championships and were the tournament organizers first choice for a direct invite. The second direct invitation letter went to Evil Geniuses and ESL One has five more direct invites to handle besides the four more teams decided via regional qualifiers that will be held on the 29th and 30th of September.
